Parking

Our location within the University Park campus of Penn State can raise some questions about where to park while attending our Weekend or Weekday Masses. If you have questions that are not covered here, please call our office: 814.865.4281

Update as of January 2017: all parking decks on campus now charge a visitor parking fee of $1 per hour (or any portion) 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, however, the decks have remained free on the weekends unless they have been used for event parking. If you have a valid PSU Parking Permit, you may still park for free in the decks after 4pm on weekdays and all weekend.

Weekend Masses

The closest parking deck is the Nittany Lion Deck, located next to the Nittany Lion Inn (Fischer Rd.). The fee is $1 per hour (free with PSU Parking Permit), 7 days a week. There are smaller surface lots between the Nittany Lion Deck and Pasquerilla Spiritual Center, most of which you may park in for free on weekends, with a few important exceptions:

  • Look carefully at the sign located at the entrance to the lot. If it says Reserved Parking 24 hours a day/7 days a week, find another parking lot!
  • Events in Rec Hall sometimes require Event Parking rates to be charged to park at the Nittany Parking Deck (if you have a valid PSU Parking Permit, you may still park for free).
  • The next closest deck is the East Parking Deck, located just south of Park Ave. on Bigler Rd., next to Berkey Creamery. It’s further away, but a mostly flat walk west on Curtin Rd. to Pasquerilla.
  • A.D.A. Parking is available on Curtin Rd. directly across from the main entrance to Pasquerilla Spiritual Center.
  • Do not park in any spot with a “Service Parking Permit Only” sign (typically also designated with yellow painted lines).

Weekday Masses

9:15am Mass at Paterno Catholic Center (non-Holy Days)

You may park for the 9:15am daily Mass behind the Paterno Center. Enter on Lehman Way (the alley that runs parallel to Park Ave.) and park in any available spot. Please do not block the garage doors.

Holy Day – 9:15am/12:15pm Mass at Pasquerilla Catholic Center

With a PSU Parking Permit:

  • With a green PSU Parking Permit – park in the Nittany Parking Deck, located next to the Nittany Lion Inn (Fischer Rd.) or any green parking lot except the lot between the Music Building and the Schultz Child Care Center, which is reserved parking for day care pickup until 6pm. If you park there, you will be ticketed.
  • Other PSU Parking Permits are not valid in the Nittany Parking Deck until after 4pm, so it is advisable to walk or take the Blue/White Loop or Red/Green Link and get off the bus at the Pattee Transit Center. From there, walk east to the intersection of Curtin Rd. and Allen Rd. Pasquerilla Spiritual Center will be on the far right corner of the intersection behind the small grove of trees.

Without a PSU Parking Permit:

  • Nittany Parking Deck, located next to the Nittany Lion Inn (Fischer Rd.), charges $1/hour (or any portion of an hour).

Is There a Drop-Off Location?

Yes, there is! There is a pull-off located on Allen Rd. next to the side entrance of Pasquerilla Spiritual Center where you can park for up to 15 minutes with flashers. You may also pull into the small alleyway between Pasquerilla Spiritual Center and the Music Building. Pull all the way up to the end of the alley and the rear entrance is on your right with a large overhang. However, you cannot leave your car unattended in the alley, even with the flashers on.
